IB Computer Science Tutor: SL, HL and the Internal Assessment
IB Computer Science for SL and HL students: the concepts, the programming paper and the Internal Assessment, planned early. Taught 1-on-1 by a working senior software engineer.
- SL and HL, on the course your school follows (the new course is first examined in 2027)
- Programming practice for the problem-solving paper
- Preparing for the pre-released case study
- Internal Assessment guidance: planning, design and feedback (the work stays your child's)

A letter to parents
Dear parents,
I write software for a living, I've won 10 coding competitions run by companies like Samsung and Honeywell, and I've taught children to code for more than five years, from 7-year-olds building their first Scratch games to Grade 11 students training machine learning models. Your child learns from someone who uses these skills every day.
I teach every student myself, the same person every week. I learn how they think, where they get stuck and what they love to build. Then I plan the lessons around their exam board and their goals.
You get short updates on WhatsApp, and you can message me directly whenever you like.
Subhanu

Questions parents ask
IB Computer Science: FAQs
Which IB Computer Science course does my child follow?
The IB introduced a new Computer Science course for first teaching in 2025, with first exams in May 2027. Students who started earlier follow the previous course. The papers differ, so lessons follow the guide your child's school uses.
Can you help with the IB Computer Science Internal Assessment?
Yes, with choosing a problem, planning, technical guidance and feedback on drafts, within IB rules. Your child writes the code and documentation; the work has to be theirs.
Which programming language is used?
In the new course, schools choose Python or Java. Most students use Python. If your child's school uses Java, mention it when you book the trial class.
What is the difference between SL and HL?
HL covers more topics in more depth and has more teaching hours. Both include the Internal Assessment and a programming paper, so regular coding practice matters at either level.
