A letter to parents

Dear parents,

I write software for a living, I've won 10 coding competitions run by companies like Samsung and Honeywell, and I've taught children to code for more than five years, from 7-year-olds building their first Scratch games to Grade 11 students training machine learning models. Your child learns from someone who uses these skills every day.

I teach every student myself, the same person every week. I learn how they think, where they get stuck and what they love to build. Then I plan the lessons around their exam board and their goals.

You get short updates on WhatsApp, and you can message me directly whenever you like.

Questions parents ask

IGCSE Computer Science: FAQs

How is Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science (0478) assessed?

Two written papers, each 1 hour 45 minutes and worth 50%: Paper 1 Computer Systems and Paper 2 Algorithms, Programming and Logic. There is no coursework, so programming is tested on paper. Check the syllabus for your exam year on the Cambridge International website.

What is the difference between Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE Computer Science?

Both cover computer systems, algorithms and programming. The big difference is how programming is tested: Cambridge tests it in a written paper, while Edexcel International GCSE has a practical paper where students write code on a computer. Each needs a different kind of practice.

Which programming language should my child use for IGCSE?

Python, in most cases. Both boards accept it, most schools teach it, and it is the easiest to read under exam pressure. Lessons also cover the board's own pseudocode.

When should we start preparing?

The earlier the better, because the course builds on itself. Starting by the beginning of the final year leaves time to fix gaps and then work through past papers.
